Dermis

The Dermis is thicker than the Epidermis and contains all sweat and oil glands, hair follicles, connective tissues, nerve endings, and lymph vessels. The Dermis also contains collagen and elastin and supports the structure of the Skin.

Skin

Skin is the body’s largest organ. It provides a defence layer between the body’s essential organs, muscles, tissues and skeletal system and the outside world. This defence protects us from harmful microorganisms, changing temperatures, and chemical exposure.

Sebum

An oily or waxy substance secreted by sebaceous glands which lubricates Skin and creates a waterproof layer on Skin to reduce Transepidermal water loss to keep Skin hydrated.

Saprophytic flora

Friendly and beneficial microorganisms living on our Skin. They adapt to our natural Skin conditions like pH levels, humidity and temperature, and inhabit the Skin surface leaving no place to foreign and hostile organisms.

Stratum corneum

Human Skin consists of 3 layers; Epidermis, Dermis and Hypodermis. Epidermis is the outer layer which consists of different layers itself. Stratum corneum is the outer layer of Epidermis which makes it the outermost layer of our Skin.
